Where Shujaa Steel Is Headed — and Why We're Building in Public
We're publishing this because we'd rather tell you what we're building before it's finished than only show up once it's done. Shujaa Steel East Africa Manufacturers exists to build a vertically integrated steel operation — manufacturing chainlink, barbed wire, and wire products in Kenya, and selling directly to the people who use them: farmers, developers, contractors, institutions, and homeowners. This post lays out what's live today, what's coming next, and why.
What We Manufacture Today
Our current product line covers the fencing materials most in demand across Kenya right now:
- 14 Gauge Chainlink — the KEBS-standard weight for general perimeter fencing
- 12.5 Gauge Extra Heavy Chainlink — for higher-traffic or higher-risk boundaries
- PVC Coated Chainlink — corrosion resistance plus a finished look for residential and commercial sites
- Triple Twist Chainlink — a tighter weave for added strength
- Galvanized Barbed Wire — in 480m, and 610m rolls
- High Tensile Wire for farm and ranch boundary work
- Razor / Concertina Wire for high-security applications
- Supporting hardware: U-nails, MIG welding wire, and binding wire
What We are Looking At
The future has numerous possibilities. But we choose to stay firmly planted in Steel. We are looking at planting our roots deeper into wire products including high tensile wire, PVC coated wire, 358 Fencing, Binding wire and eventually getting into vertical integration by producing wire rod. The path is clear and we have the drive and zeal to achieve this.
Why We're Writing Content at All
Most steel manufacturers in Kenya don't publish anything — no buying guides, no specification breakdowns, no honest comparisons. That leaves buyers guessing, and guessing is exactly how people get sold underweight rolls or the wrong gauge. Our position is that a manufacturer who explains the KEBS standard, the actual gauge difference, and how to spot a bad supplier earns more trust than one who just posts prices. We'd rather be useful than just visible.
We're early in this. This is a new effort for us, and we're not going to pretend otherwise or backfill it with numbers we don't have yet. What we can commit to is consistency: practical, specific content on fencing materials, buying decisions, and what we're building — published on a regular schedule, not in bursts.

If you're buying fencing materials for a farm, a school, a compound, or a construction project, our upcoming content will walk through the specification questions that actually matter — gauge, galvanization, roll length, tensile strength — so you can hold any supplier, including us, to a real standard. And as BRC and weldmesh come online, we'll cover those the same way: straight technical information, not just a product announcement.
